Tales of Arise is developed in a solar system with two neighboring planets, Dahna and Rena. The inhabitants of Dahna have always revered their neighbors of Rena (a planet that can be seen with the naked eye in the sky) and believe that they are lands of goodness and divinity. The people of Dahna have been sharing the legends and stories of Rena for many generations, to the point where it is believed that all these stories are true and ignore the fact that they have hidden the cruel reality.

During 300 to ñ, the people of Rena have ruled Dahna, plundered the resources of the planet, and snatched away people's dignity and freedom.
