Octopath Traveler is a new RPG from Square Enix that comes as an exclusive to Nintendo Switch. The producers of Bravely Default, Square Enix presented us a new world of fantasy, which combines computer graphics, art, pixelated, and pure magic visual. Its creators have called it "HD-2D". Begin your journey as one of the eight protagonists, each with a talent, a source and a target of its own. Where to start the journey? Who will join the team? And where do you go next? All of these decisions and many others are completely in the hands of the player.
Each character has an action of path-exclusive, that you can use to interact in a unique way with the people. For example, the warrior Olberic you can challenge to a duel almost anyone. When you do this, you will be able to unmask a villain and bring him to justice or to compel someone to turn away from its path. Instead, the dancer Primrose may seduce others to follow. With this ability, you can locate someone who is lost and bring it back, or lure their enemies into a trap. You can even call a character seduced to help you in battle!
This game blends the classic turn-based combat with mechanical completely new. One of them is the system of impulses, which allows you to accumulate points of momentum in each turn of combat. You can use them to dramatically increase the power of attacks and skills or to chain together attacks. You can focus attacks on the weak point of an enemy to guard break and deal powerful blows while you are weakened. Also you can help an ally in distress. Identify the ideal time to use a boost could give you the victory.
