The Sport collection cases are made from lightweight anodised aluminium in silver and space grey. The display is protected by strengthened Ion-X glass. And the matching fluoroelastomer strap comes in five different colours.
For Apple Watch, we created a new alloy — 7000 Series aluminium — that’s 60 per cent stronger than standard alloys. Yet it’s very light. Together with the Ion-X glass covering the display, it makes the Sport collection watches up to 30 per cent lighter than our stainless steel models. It’s also exceptionally pure, with a beautifully consistent appearance that’s difficult to achieve with traditional aluminium alloys.
To keep the Sport collection models as light as possible, we used an aluminosilicate glass that’s especially resistant to scratches and impact. It’s fortified at the molecular level through ion exchange, with smaller ions being replaced by larger ones to create a surface layer far tougher than ordinary glass.
Because it’s made from a custom high-performance fluoroelastomer, the Sport Band is durable and strong, yet surprisingly soft. The smooth, dense material drapes elegantly across your wrist and feels comfortable next to your skin. An innovative pin-and-tuck closure ensures a clean fit. Available in white, blue, green, pink and black.
Fitness isn’t just about running, biking or hitting the gym. It’s also about being active throughout the day. So Apple Watch measures all the ways you move, such as walking the dog, taking the stairs or playing with your kids. It even keeps track of when you stand up, and encourages you to keep moving. Because it all counts. And it all adds up.
The Activity app provides a simple visual snapshot of your daily activity, with three rings telling you everything you need to know. The Move ring shows how many active calories you’ve burned. The Exercise ring shows how many minutes of brisk activity you’ve completed. And the Stand ring shows how often you’ve stood up to take a break from sitting. The goal? Complete each ring every day.
As much as being active is important, it’s also key to minimise the amount of time spent sitting. Even if you’re active part of the day, sitting for long periods has its own health risks. To help you reduce your sedentary time, Apple Watch senses when you stand and move, and gives you credit when you do. And if you’ve been sitting for almost an hour, it reminds you to get up. You close the Stand ring when you’ve stood up and moved around for at least one minute in 12 different hours during the day. It may sound like a small thing, but sitting less can improve your health in significant ways.
